Q&A
Please introduce yourself.
In 1983, I began my apprenticeship as a hairdresser with L’Oréal Professionnel and Keralogie. I qualified as a hairdresser in 1986, and in 1992, I successfully completed my Master Hairdresser training at the Meininghaus Hairdressing Academy in Forchheim.
The following year, 1993, I founded my first salon. From 1995 onwards, I worked as a trainer at the Chamber of Crafts in Nuremberg, leading seminars on haircutting techniques. I was also responsible as an examiner for both Master and Journeyman examinations at the Hairdressers' Guild.
In 1996, I joined L’Oréal’s Atelier Artistique Team as a trainer, where I trained other hairdressers, organized fashion shows, and conducted photo shoots for L’Oréal. Since 2010, I have also worked with the premium brand Shu Uemura by L’Oréal, and I was the first salon in Germany to introduce the Shu Uemura brand. I remained loyal to L’Oréal Professionnel until 2018.
I concluded my role as a L’Oréal trainer in 2010 and stepped down as an examiner in 2017, before ending my self-employment in 2018. In total, I was self-employed for 25 years.
Since 2023, I have returned to self-employment, successfully running the salon Friseur Tim Tuna on Obere Wörthstraße in downtown Nuremberg, drawing on 42 years of experience. The salon is a small "manufactory" dedicated to craftsmanship, where I continue to work with premium brands Shu Uemura and L’Oréal Professionnel.
I have specialized in modern techniques, including Balayage, creative coloration, and hair coloring. Thanks to years of professional experience, I am an expert in precision haircuts—whether for short, long, or curly hair. My daily focus is on consistently delivering high-quality work, with exceptional customer service always being the priority.
What convinced you to choose Salonkee?
It’s simple, practical, very easy to use, very clear and without unnecessary extras. Support was also a very important factor for me.
What are your three favourite Salonkee features or tools?
- The dashboard
- Sending receipts to customers via email – it creates transparency, trust, and professionalism
- Having Salonkee available on my phone at all times 😊
You are a top-rated salon on the Salonkee platform. What has been your experience with our booking platform? Have you received feedback from clients who use Salonkee?
It is very easy to use, and the option for customers to store their credit card is excellent.
What is your experience with using the Salonkee Business Package?
This is the only option for me. I work completely cashless, and we only accept card payments – it’s extremely practical.
The till closure takes only three clicks, and everything is complete. It’s very transparent for my accountant and, of course, absolutely compliant for the tax office.
Do you use the Salonkee marketing tools and the loyalty points system?
I used the loyalty points system at first, but discontinued it after six months - it caused too much confusion.
The email newsletter is used regularly and I find it very good.
The SMS tool is absolutely essential - reminding clients 24 hours before their appointment is invaluable.
Do you use the Salonkee features such as deposits or late cancellation fees?
For major services, new clients must store a card. If a client does not show up once, we tolerate it. But if it happens a second time, we change the booking setting to require a stored card – we mark the client, and then it becomes mandatory.
Are there other areas where Salonkee has helped you?
Yes, marking clients as “mandatory card required” when booking ensures a stored payment method – this helps a lot.
How was the training you received from the Salonkee team?
The first training was online – it was okay. (The first trainer added far too many L’Oréal products into the system; I had to delete a lot and eventually left some things as they were because it took too much time. This trainer is no longer with Salonkee.)
The second training, in person with Secgin, was very good.
The third training, with Daniel, was also very good.
What is your experience with Salonkee’s customer support?
I have an excellent advisor – Jason 😊
What advice would you give to salons who are hesitant to switch to Salonkee’s digital software?
As Secgin often says: “If Tim is using it, it must be very good.”
Many hairdressers know me from the past – they know I am always open to new technologies and innovations, and they know I am very critical and value high quality.
